Mission and Scope
The Haskell Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization in Lawrence, Kansas, is dedicated to supporting Haskell Indian Nations University as a national center for intertribal education, research, and cultural programs. Our mission includes raising funds to meet the university's unmet needs beyond the appropriated funds provided by the Bureau of Indian Education, focusing on supporting students and addressing their educational, athletic, and infrastructure requirements. Central to our mission is the commitment to protect the privacy of our contributors (donors, alums, community supporters, volunteers, tribal communities) and students.
Contributor Interaction
The Haskell Foundation interacts with contributors, alums, community supporters, tribal communities, and students through various communication channels, including email, phone calls, text messaging, mail, and virtual and in-person events. In the course of these interactions, we collect specific information such as contact details, tribal affiliation (if applicable), demographic information, donation history, volunteer history, year graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University, degree program (if applicable), and any professional or personal accomplishments shared by contributors. This information is used for recordkeeping, reporting, engagement, and assessing the impact or reach of Haskell programs. We always seek prior consent before sharing additional information beyond what is necessary for these purposes.
Privacy Measures
To underscore the significance we place on contributor privacy, the Haskell Foundation has implemented stringent internal policies. We maintain a secure database accessible only to relevant employees who have successfully passed a robust, third-party background check. Our database features automated audit trails to track access, and we utilize technological safeguards such as two-factor authentication and off-site hosting. Employee training ensures compliance with privacy policies and consent-first practices. Under no circumstances do we share contributor information without express written consent, emphasizing our commitment to your privacy.
Online Privacy
Our website and contributor database are hosted separately, minimizing the risk of data breaches. We do not store personal information on our website; any standard website tracking utilized does not store personal data. All contributor information is securely stored in a third-party online platform specializing in contributor information management. In the unlikely event of a data breach, our third-party vendor will address the issue promptly, and affected individuals will be notified. Redaction of contributor information is available upon request to limit further issues while resolution is sought. We are committed to maintaining the highest level of security for your data.
Opt-Out Options
At the Haskell Foundation, we respect your communication preferences. Contributors can opt out of communications at any time and without explanation. You can do this through various channels, including email unsubscribe links, replying ‘unsubscribe’ to emails or ‘stop’ to text messages, verbal requests to designated Haskell Foundation employees, or written requests by mail. Additionally, you can request redaction of personal information or choose for your contributions to be listed anonymously while retaining your personal identifying information related to your contributions and activity in our database.
Updates and Contact Information
Contributors may update their contact information through their member portal or by contacting us via phone, email, text message (where applicable), or written communication.
Your trust in the Haskell Foundation is paramount, and we are committed to upholding the highest standards of contributor privacy. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or require further information regarding our privacy policies.
